Everyone keeps saying that this is the worst winter they’ve seen in years. I’m not sure that I believe them anymore. :-P This weekend was the 6th straight snow storm. No mas!! The snow yesterday wasn’t too bad, only a few more inches. Last weekend, however, the forecasted 2 inches turned into almost 10. We had planned to go to the Denver Art Museum that day, which we did, although it was a little scary getting there. It was really cool, but next time we want to take a guided tour. I was happy we finally made it there, I’ve been wanting to go since we moved here. After that, we stopped at one of the malls downtown to shop. Everything was great until Kaira tried to jump out of her stroller while we were on the escalator at Macy’s. So after that near heart attack, we were done shopping for the day. :-)

The next day, Monday, Chris had to call into work because there was no possible way to get his car out with the snow. We actually tried later on that day…only to spend a long time pushing it out again and again. Wendy called in to work the next day so that Chris could take my car (and then she could take the kiddos to school). We need an SUV. :-P Of course, the second we get one, it’ll never snow again.

Thursday I had just taken Whitney to school and Kaira and I stopped at Target for a few minutes. On the way home, an idiot decided to hit us. :-( Everyone was fine, but my poor car is hurt. *sigh* I was actually most annoyed by the idiot lady, who was extremely apologetic…that is until the police showed up, then she really just couldn’t remember quite what happened. Grrrr. The accident was completely her fault (I was turning left on a green arrow, she was turning right and came all the way over into my lane, crossing 2 others to get there, and ran right into me). When I first talked to her, she said the sun was in her eyes and that she didn’t see me, but once the police were there, she suddenly remembers signaling to change lanes and blah blah blah. I was pissed. Plus I was holding Kaira, who had finally fallen asleep, and my arm was about to break. So since there were no witnesses and we had ‘conflicting stories’ the police didn’t give any tickets, but just wrote up the report. I got a call from her insurance agency the next day though and she had admitted that she hit me in the left lane, so they’re going to pay for everything, including a rental car. I’m still pissed though, she deserved a ticket. :-P

Kaira turned 6 months old on Friday. She’s growing up too fast! I took her to the doctor for her check-up and found out that she’s growing like a weed. :-P She had actually gone up so fast that they double checked her to make sure it was right. She went from the 5% last time in both height and weight, to the 50% and 25% this time! Woohoo. We were kind of worried after her last appointment, because she was almost off their charts (on the low end) but now she’s completely back on ‘schedule’ and doing great. She had to get her shots again too, poor baby. I hate, hate, hate watching those. She did good though, and no more until 12 months.

Saturday we had Kaira’s pictures taken, which I’ll also post. They were awesome! We had a SUPER hard time picking out which ones to get…and we still ended up with way too many. So…everyone should be expecting a lot of pictures from us. :-P We also looked at a house in the afternoon, which was in the absolute perfect location. It was a foreclosure, so the bank owns it now, and its priced way below its appraised value. Ummm, the problem is that it sort of needs a lot of cosmetic work. Like, a lot, a lot. Chris isn’t sure that he wants to take on that kind of a challenge…I may, but it would be a LOT of work. I liked the space, and the floor plan, and I can see its potential, but I can also see the annoyance of fixing everything. We’ll keep looking, we’re not in a huge rush yet. ;-)

We got back late Monday night from our quick trip to Lincoln. I’m very glad that we were able to go, although I wish it would have been under happier circumstances. Cari’s mom had passed away on Friday. :-( I felt really bad that we weren’t able to stay for the funeral on Tuesday, but with Chris’ job the way it is right now, he could only get one day off of work. So we left early Saturday morning and drove down there, and then came back on Monday. Obviously it was a very sad weekend, but I was happy to see so many of Cari’s family members there…I had no idea she had such a big family! :-) Cari seems to be doing pretty well, considering the circumstances, although I’m sure it will be a long process in the coming days. It was nice to see how much her mom was loved though, and I know she’ll be extremely missed.

The weekend has also made me think a lot about my own situation with my family. Well, my parents mostly…I get along with most other members of my family. :-P Its not that I’ve really changed the way I feel about things that have happened, but it just kind of made me realize that if I want the situation to change, its up to me. They won’t change, as much as I may hope and pray that they will. I know in my heart that they will never change the way they think. So I guess I have to figure out what I want to do. I was just reminded how mortal we all are this weekend, and how quickly we can lose someone we love. I don’t want to end up regretting my stubbornness someday.

Anyway, we’re back now, and we did finally make it up to Cheyenne on the way back from Lincoln. The roads weren’t really bad, it was just FREEZING the whole time. At one point it was down to -8. Sheesh. Stinkin global warming. :-P We got to see Chris’ dad and then Tara and family (and finally exchange our presents!). It was nice to see them, and I was glad they got to see Kaira again since she’s gotten so much bigger!

Well, actually…Chris is 24 tomorrow, but its close enough. :-) We had a little ‘party’ for him on Saturday. After our yummy chicken alfredo, we took all the kids (all 6 of them!) to see Happy Feet. Super cute movie! Kaira did surprisingly well, she watched the first half of the movie, was a little crabby for about 10 minutes and then fell asleep for the rest of it. We were happy that she did so well though! Chris got a bunch of presents, my favorite was his Starbucks gift card that we had Whitney’s ‘scary doll’ holding in a box. There’s a long story behind that, but basically, Whit has a doll that freaks us all out, but she really likes, so we can’t get rid of it. I’m not sure what it is about this doll, maybe its just too life-like, but something about it is just…off. We’ve hidden it twice since we moved here, but she keeps finding it! Anyway, we taped the Starbucks card to her hand, put her in a box full off tissue paper and then wrapped it up for Chris. It was hilarious, especially since that same morning Chris had told us that the doll reminded him of Chucky. Fun, fun. :-)

By the way, it snowed here again on Friday. School was cancelled, so the kids got to have a 3 day weekend. They, of course, were extremely happy about that. Personally, I’ve had enough of the snow!!!! After 3 weeks of storms, I need some sun! Hopefully that will be the last of it for the year (or at least the month!!).

I’m also posting a bunch of pictures of Kaira in her new red dress. I ordered this dress from ebay and its so adorable. She looks like a little model. :-P I’m thinking we may have her wear it for her 6 month pictures at this end of this month.

Well we survived the Denver holiday blizzard(s). We acutally had 2 bad storms, but the first one was the real blizzard. The second one missed us, other than about 10-12 inches more of snow. Luckily we had enough food to last until we could get out again, so other than the annoyance of being snowed in, it wasn’t too bad. (And not getting our trash picked up for over 2 weeks!!!) Chris got extra days off work (since the city basically shut down, no mail, no gov’t offices, no schools…). Wendy, on the other hand, didn’t get that luxury. :-P After getting stuck in our driveway trying to leave for work (and that was in a Durango), the hospital sent someone to come pick her up. The really sucky part was that they declared a snow emergency at her hospital, which means none of the employees can leave until its called off. So she was stuck there overnight and then working again all the next day. I’ve been through a lot of storms in Nebraska, but this was probably one of the worst I’ve seen…its kind of scary when you wake up to snow up to your waist. :-P Its supposed to be in the 40′s this week though, so hopefully it will melt.

These storms have also delayed (3 times now) our attempts to go up to Wyoming again to visit Chris’ family. We’ll make it someday…hopefully soon, we still have all their presents in our car. :-)

Kaira’s just getting bigger and bigger. I love playing with her little chubby legs…after being so little for so long, its so cute to see chubby legs. :-P She just turned 5 months old and she’s becoming so playful. She got a bunch of cool new toys for Christmas, and then we had to buy her 2 more new ones this weekend. :-P If we just buy everything for her, we won’t have to buy anything for our next kid (haha, yah right). If we could just figure out how to get her to sleep better at night (or more consistantly), that’d be great! She’s just a cutie though, we love her to death. :-)

This weekend (New Years) was a football disaster. The Broncos lost on Sunday, which means no playoffs, and Nebraska lost in the Cotton Bowl on Monday. Grrrr. So depressing. At least the Broncos won last week because Chris and Javin went to that game, in the snow…sooo, its a good thing they won that day, hehe. Next season will be better!

Well its been a busy couple of weeks around here. Kaira is just getting over an ear infection, so her sleep has been…well, a little off. But she seems to be doing better now, and she just finished all her medicine, so she better be healthy now, dang it! Other than that, she’s just getting bigger and bigger, and cuter and cuter. :-) We have lots of new pictures up, and we finally got a camcorder too…although we haven’t really used it at all yet. Once we figure it all out, I should be able to post videos too, yay!

Thanksgiving went very well. We had the big dinner here on Friday (Jared and TJ were traveling here on Thursday). And of course, we watched the Nebraska game, which was awesome, full of trick plays. It was a very entertaining game to watch. On Saturday, we took the whole family to get pictures taken. I was a little worried about how that would go (considering we had 6 kids) but it actually went really well!! They turned out really good. :-) And we got TONS, so we should be sending them out soon.

On Sunday we took the kids to see a movie at a movie/grill place. It was pretty fun, and they liked it a lot. I’m sure we’ll be going back there soon. :-P Sunday night we surprised the kids with tickets to a Nuggets game (the boys are obsessed with basketball). They were beyond excited, it was super cute. The game was fun, the Nuggets won. Kaira did pretty well, except she’d freak out everytime there was a big play from all the noise. Oh well, we bought her a monkey and she was happy. :-P

Chris started his new job yesterday. Ummm, I’m actually not sure what he’s doing…but its programming stuff like he likes. :-) That’s all that really matters! It seems like a good company though, so hopefully it’ll have room for growth. Its kind of sad to not have him around during the day now, but he’s been coming home for lunch, so that’s nice at least!

More sadness
More sadness
Kaira and Grandma
Kaira and Grandma

We just got back from our quick trip to Lincoln this weekend. It was short and sweet. :-) We got there on Friday afternoon and went to visit my Grandma, and to let her see Kaira. Everything went well there, she thought Kaira was adorable and very active. Kaira just liked her fish. :-P After that, we left to meet Cari for dinner. We ended up at the Applebees by the mall. While we were looking for parking, I happened to see someone I thought I recognized…and yup, there were Priscilla and Crystal! Weeeird. Anyway, we got to see them and I got to see Crystal’s baby, Navarrah (no idea how to spell that). I couldn’t get over how big she was!!! Maybe I’m just used to tiny Kaira, but seriously, she was HUGE! :-)

Saturday was the Nebraska/Texas game. *sigh* We don’t need to talk too much about that. It was stressful and depressing. I think Melissa was right when she said that all Nebraska fans have ulcers…watching those games are heart breaking. We did go to the mall during halftime to get Kaira some Nebraska stuff though, I was sad that she didn’t have any. We found her a suuuuuuper cute cheerleader outfit and matching hair/wrist pom-poms. It is so stinkin’ adorable. :-) We went out later to look for a long sleeved shirt for her to wear under it, but instead ended up finding another cheerleader outfit (pink this time) soooo, we just had to get her that one too. Its way too big for her (as you can see in the pictures) but its adorable anyway! After we recovered from the game, Chris took Kaira to see my parents for the first time…I went with Cari and Melissa to Lazlos to drink. :-P We met Ryan, Shawn, his friend Jamie, and Devin there for dinner. It was a lot of fun. We finally convinced the guys to hold Kaira, they were all convinced they were going to break her…but they finally did it and we got some awesome pictures from it. :-) Once we were all done eating (at our itty-bitty table) we ran over to Crystal and Priscilla’s apartment to say good-bye.

Anyway, it was a nice weekend, and I love that we live close enough to do things like that now. A seven hour drive is nothing compared to the 24 hour drive from Cali. :-) We’re back in Denver now so Chris can work, although the rest of the household is still in Lincoln, so the house is unusally quiet and peaceful. That’ll all end tomorrow though. :-P Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. :-)

First shots, 4 of them!!
First shots, 4 of them!!

Kaira had her first set of shots this week, 4 of them. I think I was more upset than she was. :-P I can’t stand to see my baby in pain. :-( She actually did pretty well, she only screamed for a few minutes. Once they let me pick her up again she settled down, but man, that sucked! I’m making Chris take her next time, hehe. Speaking of Chris…he should be back in less than 2 weeks now, 13 days! Yay! :-)

Yesterday was a fun day. Saturday’s are supposed to be our “family day.” Javin and Ethan come over and spend the day here, and we usually grill out while all the kids play. Yesterday we decided to take the kids downtown to the ESPN Zone for lunch. That place is cool. :-) And, of course, the kids love it…all those games and everything. We walked around a little downtown afterwards, but that can prove rather difficult with 6 kids. :-P I’m excited to go back down there again though, it looks like a nice place to walk around. We had to hurry home to watch the Nebraska game, which proved much more stressful than we expected. How do we start out with a 17 point lead, and then somehow end up in overtime? :-P That’s Nebraska football for you! It was great though, hehe…and we won in the end, so that’s all that matters.

Cari just left after her weekend visit here. *tear* It was nice to see her again, and to have someone else to help with Kaira. :-P We were pretty lazy most the weekend, but that’s what we wanted to do anyway. There were several memorable moments, including when we were terrorized by some psychotic (literally) lady at Comcast (you had to be there). I feel sorry for the residents of Overland, Kansas…that’s where she told us she was moving. She also told us about her 47 year old sister (or friend???) who died from drugs…so we’re supposed to stay away from drugs. We learned all this while standing in line to get a cable box, it was beyond creepy. Then she told us how she was so glad we were there, otherwise she might be losing it, since they were taking so long at the office. I guess Cari and I just can’t go anywhere without running into crazy people. :-P

Anyway it was a fun visit and I was glad she got to see Kaira while she was still little. And we took lots of pictures. :-)

After all the moving/unpacking, I just found the cable for the camera again, so I put up a bunch more pictures. :-) Some are when we were back in California, the rest are with the family here.

Kaira had her 6 week appointment this week and is now up to 7lbs 6oz. My baby’s getting so big! :-)

Awww...so sweet when I'm sleeping.
